Last week I read from Problogger.net that there’s a severe security issue with the WordPress 2.1.1 installation. A hacker had altered the WP source code, so it was important to make this upgrade. Thanks to the WP crew, there’s a really good guide for upgrading to WP 2.1.2. I thought about writing the instructions here, but the guide is so good and rich in detail, so there was no sense writing it all over again. But I wanted to share my thoughts on this upgrade and also add info about the tools that helped me.

How To Add Google Analytics Plugin To WordPress

I’m using Google Analytics to keep track of the traffic on my sites. I was having an annoying problem, though. Whenever I was changing the template on my WordPress, I had to manually add the GA code to the template. After a while I also noticed that the code had to be added to multiple files (I was adding it to index.php or footer.php, depending on the template). Yesterday WordPress 2.1 was released and I decided to give it a try. I had been using WP 2.0 for 6 months and I was really satisfied with it. But when I read the list of the improvements in 2.1, I went through a “oh-yeah-that-was-annoying-me” discussion with myself.
